Dr. Melissa Gowenlock is an associate veterinarian at Park Veterinary Centre. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2009. She also holds a B.Sc. in Genetics from the University of Manitoba. Dr. Gowenlock moved to Sherwood Park and started working shortly after graduation, leaving her family in southern Manitoba. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but really loves surgery. Dr. Gowenlock has been at the clinic for more than 7 years now, and life has sure changed for her in the course of that time. She bought her first house, slowly expanded her fur family to four crazy cats and two large dogs. Outside of work, the pets keep her occupied and Dr. Gowenlock can usually be found at the Sherwood Park off-leash park with the dogs most days. A welcome addition to Alberta, Dr. Gowenlock is also someone who actually quite enjoys winter, as she has become an avid snowboarder, which was an unavailable hobby back in Manitoba. Trips to the mountains are frequent once the snow falls. She and her husband also enjoy hiking and camping trips in the summer. Spending time outdoors is very important to her. When she is at work, Dr. Gowenlock always looks forward to all the interesting cases, as well as developing relationships with the clients. She enjoys the communication aspect of the job and always tries to make the visit fun and really get to know people and their pets.
